"Deeper"

Introduction

How do Christians grow? This question evokes different feelings among us - guilt, longing, smugness, or cynicism. None of us questions the need to grow, as Scripture clearly calls us to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18).

The central message of this book is that Christian growth is not primarily about outward improvement, intellectual addition, or emotional experiences - though all have their place. Rather, growth is about deepening. Implicit in this notion is that you already have what you need. Christian growth is bringing what you do, say, and feel into line with what, in fact, you already are.
